The UN has decreed that women’s equal participation and leadership in political and public life are essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. But their most recent data has revealed that women are underrepresented at all levels of decision making around the world.

Data proves that more diverse leadership is both better for business, and countries, and for the people within them. This International Women’s Day marks the launch of the Alliance of Her, a new leading platform for liberal European women in politics.

Mr President led the rebrand and repositioning of what was formerly known as the European Women’s Academy. The repositioning has seen the Alliance move away from being a learning platform for a limited few instead becoming a global, unifying brand for liberal ideas.

Under the tagline ‘She will be heard’, the branding is designed to be loud and eye-catching, to carry the boldness of the brand across every physical and digital touchpoint.

“The ALDE party believes that a Europe that is free, open, prosperous and sustainable requires men and women to be equal in power, leadership and decision making,” says Laura Owen-Onsea, Head of ALDE Party’s Engagement Unit. “However, progress has stalled or is in some cases being reversed in the fight for equal representation. We believe the time has come to level up in our efforts to achieve equal power and equal voice for women in European politics.”

Data demonstrates that equality doesn’t only benefit women; it benefits us all. Platforms like the Alliance for Her are vital in building up a collective voice, in inviting everyone to be part of a conversation to shift the narrative and ensure that equal representation is brought about in our lifetime.
