St Patrick’s Day (17th March) is a day of celebration but with 64% of drinkers feeling pressured to order a certain drink to fit in, and 42% fear judgment for choosing a cocktail over a pint, as the day rolls around Kahlúa coffee liqueur is striving to combat ‘Paddy’s Day pressure’.

With the help of Wieden and Kennedy London, Kahlúa has created a tongue-in-cheek solution so that cocktail lovers can enjoy their drink of choice without fear of judgement. ‘The Schneaky Espresso Martini Glass’ is a hand-blown glass designed to disguise an espresso martini as a pint of stout.

The cheeky new glass is available exclusively at O’Locclainn’s in County Clare, Ireland, and The Howl at the Moon pub in London on St Patrick's Day (March 17th). Customers can get their hands on the glass by ordering a “Schneaky Espresso Martini” at the bar. There will also be an opportunity to get a glass via a giveaway on the Howl at the Moon Instagram page.

Kahlúa is launching the glass with Irish TikTok sensations Tadgh & Derry and 3bucksleft with a cheeky video revealing the glass in all its glory. This is the second time the brand has teamed up with Tadgh & Dave. Last year, a humorous ‘bored of stout’ film generated 5.5 million views in one weekend, a +864% increase in Kahlúa’s web traffic on St. Paddy’s Day and a 300% sales uplift of Espresso Martinis sold during the weekend compared to the year before.

“We’re aiming to make St. Patrick’s Day a major Espresso Martini drinking occasion, so we’re back again to steal some of the green limelight from the other black and creamy beverage,” explained Freddy Taylor and Philipa Beaumont, Creative Directors at Wieden+Kennedy London.

Piggybacking on the cultural firepower of the Irish holiday while borrowing the Irish sense of humour, the campaign embraces St. Patrick’s Day as a day for all types of drinkers.
