Herbal Essences wanted to showcase their use of botanicals in a new partnership with Kew Gardens. The haircare brand has always been known for its unforgettable advertising; particularly the cheeky work from the ‘90s and ‘00s. But they wanted to transition to a more grown up reflection of this sassy, empowering, and naturally conscious brand.
The botanicals in Herbal Essences Bio:Renew are proven to reinvigorate not just your hair, but your attitude. So, we wanted to show how unleashing “Mama Nature’s secrets” gives you hair that you want to flaunt.
We took all the best things about Herbal - their iconic sense of sass and fun - and reintroduced them in a cut-through way for our modern consumer.
The advert is a music video about the power of badass botanicals. Our heroine lets her hair down in the Palm House at Kew Gardens in a moment of botanical bliss, leaving her feeling completely revived.
We carried the fierce attitude of our campaign through the traditional TV, print, and OOH channels, to more contemporary communication channels like experiential, digital, and social assets across the UK and Europe.
The campaign reinvigorated the brand and proved to be Herbal Essences most successful copy for more than five years.
