Small business owners find accounting admin a chore. So the obvious message – indeed, the message that every competitor was communicating – was that online accounting software is so efficient and easy-to-use that you won’t have to deal with this laborious accounting nonsense. Rather than being the hero, online accounting software was assigned a regressive role.
Solution
Our idea sees the analogy of sports and fitness to demonstrate that healthy business is beautiful business.
We launched with a TV spot featuring New Zealand comedian Rhys Darby (of Flight of the Conchords and Jumanji fame) demonstrating how Xero transforms the feeling of running a small business from struggling through a marathon in quicksand to winning a fun-run with roller skates and a jetpack.
Each creative built upon our strategic customer insight – that Xero gives you mastery of your business – to drive re-appraisal among our target.
