Mikaela Dragon and Ruby Norman-Curran have been appointed co-presidents of SheSays, the non-profit organisation which promotes gender equality in the creative industries.

The duo, who are long-standing board members of the organisation, will take over from Amy Dick.

The appointment comes at a pivotal time in the creative industry, against a backdrop of DEI being squeezed and even eradicated from the business agenda. With many expressing fears that the world is slipping backwards when it comes to equality, the focus for SheSays globally will be 'Holding ground and holding space'.

“We need to be fighting for intersectional gender equity in the workplace more than ever,” explained Mikaela Dragon, Co-President of SheSays London.

She continued: “With everything that’s been happening politically, and in the industry, we decided this year should be about standing our ground. We’re already seeing companies taking steps backwards when it comes to DE&I and gender, and we refuse to go quietly back into our box. It’s time to dig our heels in. We won’t go back. This year SheSays are going to be the cheerleaders of defiance.”

Alongside the SheSays board, the new presidents are planning a year of events and campaigns designed to reinvigorate the community. The organisation aims to make 2025 a year where the not-for-profit keeps positive momentum up. Events this year will include a confidence mapping workshop and a project with students from UAL’s ‘Creative Shift’ program.

We need to be fighting for intersectional gender equity in the workplace more than ever.

Ruby Norman-Curran, SheSays London Co-President, added: “The political landscape may be a little scary right now, but injustice has always inspired defiance. SheSays was set up 18 years ago to fight sexism in the industry, and since then our community has exploded. Maybe it’s time we get back to our anarchic roots…but this time with the power of an entire global network.”

Mikaela Dragon is a purpose-led integrated Creative and Design Director and has been a member of SheSays for eight years. She has worked with a broad range of clients, both in-house and with agencies, including Amazon and The United Nations. She was a WACL Talent Award Winner in 2024.

Ruby Norman-Curran is an award-winning writer, voiceover artist, and former Creative Director and has been part of SheSays for five years. She has worked at a range of celebrated agencies including Wieden + Kennedy, The & Partnership, Quiet Storm, Mr President and Droga5 and was included in the Top 50 influential Neurodivergent Women of the Year by Women Beyond the Box.

SheSays has over 90,000 members across 55 cities worldwide. The organisation was created by Laura Jordan Bambach and Alessandra Lariu in 2007.

During Amy Dick’s Presidency SheSays London campaigned for better understanding and support around the gender pain gap, greater diversity within leadership and acknowledgement and actions around ending discrimination across the creative industry. The organisation also ran a campaign to design a more inclusive future for creative workplaces.

“We’re more powerful together,” says Norman-Curran, adding: “This year we want to engage more people than ever before – and there’s a role for everyone, including allies. Gender equity shouldn’t just be on the shoulders of women and non-binary folks. This industry is home to some of the most creative, rebellious, strategic, persuasive people – sometimes all you need to do is remove the barriers and let them use those powers for good.”
