2022 sees agencies back in the driver’s seat, pushing change forward not just adapting to it
In 2020 and 2021 we had a great big covid-shaped sledge hammer of change thrust upon us. We had to change how we worked, where we worked, who we worked with, how we talked to people. We had to change our home lives, parenting lives, our friendships and relationships. All stretching, flexing, sometimes groaning under the weight of constantly adapting ourselves. Change felt at times exciting (remember those first little thrills of ‘ooo we did our first zoom pitch’), but most of the time it was just a bit draining and sometimes, outright depressing.
It’s time to take the reins back in 2022. Let’s hit it hard with a big ‘fuck you’ ball of energy and do the things WE want, for a change

And here’s the thing. We didn’t choose it. We just had to roll with it. Make the best of it. Come through as unscathed as possible.
Well, sod that. It’s time to take the reins back in 2022. Let’s hit it hard with a big ‘fuck you’ ball of energy and do the things WE want, for a change.
Agency people are the best at driving change - we’re a strong, resilient, hungry, creative, restless bunch. So if anyone can take the power back and choose to do things differently, we can. And let’s not limit ourselves to one thing. Let’s do LOTS.
There’s such a power in forward momentum. It creates energy and positivity. Brings people together around shared goals. It’s an intangible thing. Like when you meet someone at a party and they radiate good energy, you want to be near it.

Going into the new year, we’re doing things that put us in the driving seat at SNAP, so that we’re masters of our own destiny, rather than being at the mercy of rolling with it. New office in a buzzier part of town? YEAH. New shop window to dust off how we look? YEAH. Celebrating what we do in the industry more? YEAH. Investing in more young talent, diverse talent? HELL YEAH.
Our team are also thinking about the changes they’re committing to, from little things like less swearing (good luck with that) to brilliant initiatives like how we can help save the planet through our TV production estimates (who’d have thought it).
We don’t know exactly what 2022 will bring us, but there’s little point in just sitting around waiting to find out. In the last two years, we’ve all been on the receiving end. It’s now time to get back in the driving seat and start making positive choices that move us forward. Uncertainty will still be with us through 2022, but let’s decide to start shaping our own lives rather than wait for circumstances to shape it for us. Bring it on.
