Apathy is the enemy of creativity. As the summer season kicks in it is all too easy to find ourselves on autopilot. Whether boiling our brains on the Northern Line, or navigating the mental gymnastics of summer childcare logistics, summer can be a difficult time to maintain momentum. For creativity and curiosity to thrive we need rest and inspiration. Be it recommending a book, a breathing method or developing a craft, this summer BITE is asking leaders to share how they are making the space to nurture their creativity and find their pace.

George Lawrence, Marketing Manager at PrettyGreen, discusses how this year’s summer of sport has kept the whole agency inspired.

At PrettyGreen we're certainly feeling a summer slump as we sit in this void of non-weekday sport.

We dedicated ourselves to the coverage of the Euros, then the Olympics and then eagerly awaited the start of the Paralympics and the opportunity to see the para-athletes we worked with on Bupa Picture of Health compete for the highest honours!

We had the TV on in our new office kitchen space throughout the Olympics with the sports coverage on in the background, providing a great soundtrack and discussion starter – or heated debate if you want to know what sports we all think we could get into the LA Olympics for.

There was a crowd around the kitchen table to cheer on Sky Brown in the skateboarding before our social last week, not a bad pre-pub activity!

I also may be guilty of having it on in the background during meetings when I worked from home… and of course the Euros.

You only get to watch the drama live once and at PrettyGreen we wish that could be every day.
