The campaign from Wunderman Thompson is Duracell’s first Christmas ad in five years
In the first festive campaign for the brand in five years, the Duracell Bunny saves Santa from a Christmas blackout by running to the rescue and changing the batteries in Rudolph's nose.
The campaign ‘Bunny saves Christmas’ has been created by Wunderman Thompson UK and is filled with the whimsy and magic of the season making use of a heartwarming animation style. The spot cheekily plays on the heroic qualities of Duracell batteries, as many parents and Christmas gift-givers will know the pain of forgetting the batteries on Christmas day.
The festive film features Santa flying on his sleigh above a wintry forest, when the red-nosed reindeer, who is lighting the way, loses power in his nose. The sleigh comes crashing to the ground but on right on cue the Duracell Bunny speeds in and opens up the reindeer's nose to uncover ordinary batteries. The bunny swaps the batteries for Duracell Optimum and the reindeer's nose lights up brighter than ever. The Duracell Bunny drops a pack of batteries in Santa’s sleigh for the toys that will need them. Thanks to the Duracell Bunny Santa can be off on his way, and no battery mishaps will happen on the big day. The spot ends with the call to action: “Don’t risk it, choose Duracell”.
The campaign launches on 1st November, and will run throughout the festive season, until the end of December, with activity live across EMEA and South America. Alongside the TV spot, the campaign extends across out-of-home, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and in-store activations.
