Visa UK, working with Saatchi & Saatchi have used their Christmas ad, All They Want For Christmas Is You, to highlight the fundamental and pivotal roles that many shopkeepers play on the British high street. In a karaoke-esque spot, we see the butcher, the greengrocer and the local bookseller, among others, singing a rendition of Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas.
On a snow laden street, we’re taken inside a selection of shops and introduced to the real, local heroes at their helm. It’s a warmly comforting ad that focuses on the sense of community that permeates throughout the festive season.
The ad is a reminder that, while Amazon is all good and speedy, there’s nothing like wandering into your local store, having a quick chat to the shopkeeper and picking up something special. As Visa reminds us, ‘Make their wish come true. Support your local High Street’.
