While enduring pressure is heaped on the NHS, charities like Marie Curie are continuing to help the hundreds of people with terminal cancer during this time.
Marie Curie's nurses and carers are needed more than ever at this time of national crisis. Increased demand means Marie Curie must raise £2.5m a week to keep them on the frontlines of our health service. Everything else might be on hold, but unfortunately terminal illness is not.

CharityFrom theatre shows to festivals, sporting events and weddings, ordinary life has currently ground to a halt as the world navigates its way through the coronavirus crisis. And while these are strange and uncertain times for everyone, there are a number of services that won’t halt, despite the pandemic.
One such charity still continuing its life-saving work is Marie Curie, whose latest campaign; one created pro bono by Saatchi & Saatchi, cements the fact that their services are not ‘On Hold’. While enduring pressure is heaped on the NHS, charities like Marie Curie are continuing to step up to help the hundreds of people with terminal cancer during this time.
The campaign is an emergency appeal, asking people to support Marie Curie nurses. It is also encouraging advertisers and media owners to donate media space that has gone unused during the current crisis to the campaign.
‘On Hold’ uses imagery of an empty theatre, stadium and museum among others to illustrate just how significantly our way of life has changed. But these clips are followed with the line, ‘Not everything is on hold,’ and a video message from a woman called Lin who points out that her experience of terminal cancer is ongoing; it won’t halt just because of the crisis facing the globe.
The campaign was created in under a week, with the team working remotely, using stock imagery and the home video created by Lin, demonstrating how creativity can still abound beyond the office walls.
Finding our way through this crisis is an exhausting, draining process for many but none more so than for those at the frontline of healthcare organisations, or those in greatest need of those services. It is vital that we continue to support charities and businesses throughout this crisis, particularly when these services are needed now more than ever. The power of creativity at speed can help us to do so.
