When it comes to sport, from local to international level, we frequently make reference to rivalry. And, as a fan, you wear your team’s colours with pride, loyalty and, more often than not, sheer love of the team you support.
The Purse is the latest 'Made of More' story from Guinness which tells the real-life tale of two Welsh brothers, David and Gareth Rees, who use their mother's inheritance to carry out her wish and follow the game she loved. A rugby story of, and for, the fans.

This pure love is echoed in Guinness’ latest story in the ‘Made of More’ campaign from AMV BBDO. In ‘The Purse’ we meet two Welsh brothers David and Gareth Reese as they tell the real-life story of their mum, an avid Welsh rugby supporter. The men describe how they are using their mother’s inheritance to carry out her wish to “spending every last penny on the Six Nations”.
The ad is a passionate and genuinely joyous celebration of sport, as we follow the brothers from home games to away, through pubs, planes and taxi rides and to the moment they said farewell to their mum. They taste snails, argue over fares and, most importantly, share pints of Guinness.
It’s a heart-wrenching, powerful ad and one that really drives at the heart of true unrivalled passion for a team and a sport. Instead of focusing on the players, it is a story of, and for, the fans, whatever country they support.
