Consumer ElectronicsThis Christmas will look remarkably different to those of festive seasons past. The coronavirus crisis has halted travel plans and placed restrictions on meet-ups, meaning that many families will spend the Christmas period physically separated from their loved ones.
Facebook Portal’s new festive campaign from TBWA\London has been created to demonstrate how, even though we may be physically distant from one another, we can still recapture the Christmas quirks we know and, begrudgingly, love.
The campaign stars the presenter and former footballer Ian Wright and his family using Portal to stay in touch over the Christmas break. The campaign captures Portal’s brand idea, ‘if you can’t be there, feel there’ which took on a whole new meaning in 2020 as the world went into varying degrees of lockdown.
Aaron Hoffman, EMEA Marketing Lead for Portal said: “We started with the insight that every family has their own quirks and traditions when it comes to the holidays. Families might not all be in the same room this year, but it doesn't mean they can't feel like they are.”
With the ongoing pandemic keeping us physically separated, the nation has never needed comfort or familiarity more. This campaign demonstrates the importance of connection, even if it is just to watch your dad recreate his favourite moment of fame over, and over, again.
