‘Tuesday’ from Havas London aims to capture the unique nature of the job, how no two days or even moments are the same.
Havas reprises its teacher recruitment campaign for The Department for Education, Every Lesson Shapes a Life, with an intimate, wide-ranging portrait of a day in the life of a teacher. It highlights the unique nature of the career and the transformative impact teachers can have.
Sector
EducationIn a whirl of statistics, headlines and news stories, it can be easy to forget the real people at the heart of the education sector. The teachers who rise in the dark, who mark work late into the night and who are always thinking of new ways to inspire the next generation.
Havas London’s latest work for the Department for Education, ‘Tuesday’ demonstrates the variety of a day in the life of one particular teacher, Addison Brown at Bedford High School in Leigh, Greater Manchester as he cycles into school where he teaches, comforts students, disciplines them, and of course laughs with them.
The ad is the next instalment in the long-running teacher recruitment campaign from the Department for Education, Every Lesson Shapes a Life, and aims to demonstrate not only the positive impact that teachers can have on the young lives around them but also on their own lives. ‘Tuesday’ aims to capture the unique nature of the job, how no two days or even moments are the same.
We see the energy and care that Mr Brown takes towards his students and the fulfilment that one successful conversation can bring him by the end of the day. The choice to use a real teacher continues the campaign’s aim to capture an authentic portrait of what it actually means to be a teacher in the UK.
While political conversations continue around funding or lack thereof, and some UK schools even reveal they stayed open over the holidays to support those less fortunate in the local community, ‘Tuesday’ offers us an intimate, emotional portrait of the daily trials and successes of being a teacher.
