Argos’ latest ad shows how far the power of imagination can take us and also, the cathartic experience of banging out a rhythm on a drum kit, or failing that, a few pots and pans.
Argos and The&Partnership London launch a content series encouraging Britain to have fun at home and spend some time together during lockdown. The hero film, "Drum From Home", premiered on Britain's Got Talent and features members of the public drumming to 'Gotta Get Thru This'.

RetailAs UK consumers spend more time at home, learning how many different roles their household items can really play has been a key learning. A saucepan can be more than just a saucepan; as a new ad from Argos demonstrates, it can actually serve as a rather impressive drum.
‘Drum from Home’ by The&Partnership sees homes around the UK creating their very own drum kits from pots, pans, bin lids, anything they can get their hands on. A series of lessons in how to create the best home drum kit were shown on Argos’ social channels and across YouTube with subsequent videos demonstrating basic drumming tips. A final video showed how to do the beat from Daniel Bedingfield’s Gotta Get Thru This, a fitting track for a nation in lockdown.
The campaign brings back 10-year-old Nandi, the drumming maverick who was the star of Argos’ 2019 stand out Christmas campaign, in which she played alongside her dad in the kitchen. She invites the nation to drum with her on whatever kit they can assemble to be in with a chance of featuring in the music video premiering on Britain’s Got Talent.
The drumming series is part of an ongoing campaign that sees Argos inviting people to have fun at home, whether that’s making a den or sharing ideas to keep kids entertained with homemade hacks.
As Yan Elliott, Executive Creative Director at The&Partnership, explained: “Bang the drum for the Great British public who have proved, once again, they can come together and get through anything.”
The ongoing lockdown has provided the backdrop for consumers and agencies alike to find creativity in the midst of constraint. Argos’ latest ad shows how far the power of imagination can take us and also, the cathartic experience of banging out a rhythm on a drum kit, or failing that, a few pots and pans.
