According to figures released by Companies House, more than 600 start-ups were launched in London, per day, in the first six months of 2016. So you can see why standing out has become as much of a problem for start-ups, as simply envisioning an idea in the first place.
This is where Google stepped in, working with Amplify on the first Entrepreneurs’ Demo Day to be held outside of Silicon Valley. The London event gave a springboard to Europe’s hottest start-ups, allowing them to showcase their technology in front of investors and mentors from around the world.
The Demo Day is an international platform hosted by Google, a brand rewnowned for their groundbreaking innovation. Ten of the best start-ups from across Europe were invited to the event, where they each had bespoke stage areas within the space. This gave them the opportunity to demonstrate their propositions to the visiting investors and an inquisitive crowd.
As well as producing the events space, Amplify created a mural on the front of the Great Eastern Bear gallery in Shoreditch, encouraging people to watch the live stream. To involve people watching remotely, the agency designed bespoke Twitter walls to inspire a constant flow of conversation.
The Demo Day harnessed the power and reach of Google to create a stage for new and emerging companies. It also gave Google access to new talent and showed they are a company at the forefront of creative innovation.
