Each petition will go live just after the 8pm clap every Thursday evening, a reminder that the NHS need both our applause and our support on an ongoing basis; this can’t just be a one-time action.
WE CLAPPED FOR THEM, NOW LET’S ACT FOR THEM. The campaign asks us to act after every clap to create a permanent record of our collective support via petition - ensuring protection for carers now and the NHS from cuts in the long term. #ProtectOurNHS #ClapForOurCarers

OtherFrom balconies, windows and door steps around the country over the last few weeks, the nation has applauded the NHS workers. The people who are putting themselves on the frontline in order to protect and save lives.
But while showing our appreciation with a clap is important, both for recognising the huge sacrifice NHS workers are making and building a sense of community, now feels like the time where we can step up and take action to match the appreciation.
A new campaign created by And Rising for online campaigning organisation 38 Degrees, ‘NHS United’, asks the population “to ‘act’ as well as ‘clap’.” Because the NHS is under pressure, not only from the coronavirus crisis but from government cuts, the lack of protective and testing equipment and a shortage of staff.
The campaign has been designed to drive people towards a series of petitions to ensure the government protects the NHS and its workers, now and in the future. The first petition is the one that 38 Degrees believes to be the most urgent: keeping pressure on the government to prioritise and enforce the measures to protect the NHS and frontline workers’ health and safety. The petition has already been signed by almost 60,000 people.
Each petition will go live just after the 8pm clap every Thursday evening, a reminder that the NHS need both our applause and our support on an ongoing basis; this can’t just be a one-time action. As the campaign says, “We clapped for them. Now let’s act for them.”
