WACL launches a collection of mugs celebrating women who lift each other up.
As 2021 draws to a close, WACL has launched a unique mug collection to celebrate those that have inspired and lifted people up this year.
“What better time to celebrate those who have supported us and been allies in our work accelerating gender equality?” said Kate Waters, WACL President: “So you can now say thank you with one of our four, brand new, limited edition WACL-branded mugs, each with a quote from a woman who has helped light up the world.”
The mugs feature WACL’s refreshed brand design created by Joint London and were created by Carol Chan of Comms8. The mugs are not for profit and priced at cost, at £12.99
Each mug features an inspirational comment. These include Michelle Obama; “Choose people who lift you up” Malala Yousafzai; “We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back” Serena Williams; “We’re strongest when we cheer each other on” and Kamala Harris’ iconic; “I’m speaking.”
“2021 has been a difficult year for everyone. Sadly, it’s also a year in which progress towards gender equality has taken a backwards step.” explained Lori Meakin, “The gender pay gap has widened. Despite many of us working from home, fully flexible working is still far from the norm. Women have borne more of the practical and emotional burden of COVID in their domestic lives. And they have suffered disproportionately higher job losses than men. As an industry, we’re still under- and mis-representing women on our screens as well as in our workplaces. And all of this is exacerbated when we look at women in intersectional spaces of race, class or disability. But there’s lots we can do if we all work together to create change.”
WACL advocates for the support of the next generation of women on their leadership journey and campaigns for change in areas that will accelerate gender equality. They encourage the industry to get involved by joining, working as an ally, or signing up emerging women leaders for any of its Talent initiatives.
