EE blocks out the nation’s calendars for the Women’s World Cup semi-final
A historic game in a historic tournament requires zero interruptions, surprise meetings or ‘have you got five minutes’ requests.
As the Lionesses prepare to face off against Australia in the Women’s World Cup semi final, EE has issued a nationwide invite to a ‘Team Call’. A social campaign which helps employees put their always urgent, always on working lives on hold in order to give the urgent task of watching the big game their full attention.
The creative, which was developed by Saatchi & Saatchi, is live across social media platforms today. It features the Lionesses alongside a calendar-inspired invitation entitled ‘Join England Team Call’
The campaign includes clickable links across its social executions, ensuring fans can add the fixtures to their real Outlook and Apple calendars. A perfect way to ensure no meetings get scheduled during play.
The meeting invite, which comes direct from ‘The Lionesses’ and runs for the full 90 minutes of play (11am to 12.45 BST) promises to ‘put some time in to get together as a nation. Let’s do this.’
EE has a long-standing association with Football and is lead partner of the four home nation football associations. The brand is committed to providing new opportunities to promote digital and skills initiatives while encouraging a new generation of girls and women to participate in football.
In 2021 the brand launched the groundbreaking ‘Hope United’ campaign. The work was dedicated to tackling all forms of online hate and driving genuine, systemic change.
The Women’s World Cup continues to break viewing records across the globe. As female players make history on the pitch, every single marketing activation and investment contributes to the move towards equity and equality in sponsorship investment. Investment which is vital for realising the transformative potential of women’s football.
A powerful reminder that whether on the football pitch or in the creative field: every time you play you change the game.
