Summer in Milan might only be topped by summer in Capri. A new immersive window display from luxury brand Michael Kors has transformed the La Rinascente in Milan to create a summer experience for passersby, which transports them to the island of Capri at sunset.

To give customers a slice of summer and showcase the brand’s summer 2023 collection, the luxury brand has taken over the iconic department store’s walkway and windows across from the Duomo. The summer experience has been created with the help of immersive experience studio Pixel Artworks and has been inspired by Capri’s idyllic Marina Grande. The immersive creative execution aims to bring a taste of summer on an island retreat into the centre of the city.
The illusion has been projected onto the windows and walkway transports passersby to a harbour’s wooden dock at sunset as waves gently lap against the sides. Walkers can spot tiny glimpses of tiny fish in the sea as yachts, moored nearby, drift in and out on the tide.

Alongside the stunning visuals, the immersive experience also transports consumers to Capri via sound. The rhythm of waves, a soft murmur of talk and laughter and the sound of the wind running through the sales of ships surround guests as they walk through the experience. The experience spans the store's six large window displays and is designed to immerse passersby fully into the experience of summer, awakening the senses.
The opening of the experience was celebrated with an intimate cocktail hour hosted by Michael Kors with friends of the brand at La Rinascente’s terrace bar with a DJ set by Valentina Georgia Pegorer.

In creating an experience that brings a taste of summer to the city, the luxury brand provides customers with some much-needed escapism. By awakening the senses the brand is able to slow down the pace and encourage audiences to stop, relax and take in some island tranquillity.
