Chrissie Butcher and Matt Weston have launched a Kickstarter campaign to launch a card game to help break the stigma around periods
A London creative duo have set their sights on creating a card game entitled Dadpax to help break the stigma surrounding periods.
Chrissie Butcher and Matt Weston, are launching a fun new card game on Kickstarter aimed at combating the stigma around periods. The game is designed to help men increase their menstruation knowledge.
The game has been created in response to research showing that menstruation is approached differently dependent on gender. In modern societies many women and girls still carry shame and stigma around their periods.
Dadpax contains 28 cards, reflecting the number of days are in the average menstrual cycle. The cards include a series of trivia challenges, multiple-choice questions and drawing games. The idea is that the daughter becomes quizmaster and asks the questions, while the dads have to answer.
Butcher explains the thinking behind the game. “Wrapping up education with a bit of humour is a great way of getting around people’s aversion to certain subject matters. It’s not that we’re playing the blame game either, we wanted to create a fun way to give dads confidence and educate themselves.”
Weston added: “Dads take pride in their knowledge, whether that be rewiring a plug or dadsplaining things. But let’s face it, many of us go red in the face when periods are mentioned.”
