Women ask bosses to exchange thongs given as Christmas gifts for career investment in a new campaign by the WEI (Women with Epic Ideas).

The social campaign is designed to help female employees speak out against unwanted, sometimes inappropriate Christmas gifts and ask employers to invest in their careers instead. The ‘All I want for Xmas is a prosperous career’ campaign unveils the worst, unusable, and shocking REAL Christmas gifts women in the creative industries received from their bosses.

Such gifts include a thong, and a personalised mug of a boss' face, brought to life through a series of illustrations by Alex Ramirez and long-form films and by Mr. President creatives Dan Ball and Joe Stone. The campaign will unveil the worst gifts received with one for each of the 12 days of Christmas.

The campaign (with real gifts sourced from employees) aims to spark honest and open conversations about the ongoing investment needed to propel existing employee development offerings that may have gone stale. To invoke change and help women achieve their career goals, SheSays offers a drafted letter to share with bosses to sign up for a membership to The WEI - the first career progression platform specialised for women in the Creative industries.

Alessandra Lariu, Founder of WEI explained: “We wanted to show the other side of Christmas giving, and how there is a much better gift bosses can give their people – the opportunity to conquer their careers. The run-up to Christmas comes with an onslaught of staff cuts and redundancies, and historically, women have been disproportionately impacted by both. A real commitment in the career progression of female staff is the gift that keeps on giving year on year, socks not so much”.

The ‘All I want for Xmas is a PROSPEROUS career’ campaign can be viewed on the WEI’s official Instagram and LinkedIn platforms.
