Ruben Reuter is a BBC actor and Channel 4 News correspondent who has Down syndrome. This line of work started for Ruben at age twelve, when he was part of a documentary for the CBBC series “My Life”. He was the first person in the UK with Down Syndrome to narrate a documentary. Ruben then went on to be the first actor with Down Syndrome to play a regular part in a TV series in the UK, as Finn Mclaine in CBBC’s ‘The Dumping Ground”, during which time the show won an RTS award. He is also the first learning disabled news reporter in the UK, and the first learning disabled journalist to be nominated for a London Press Award. This year, he also won the SENSE Journalism of the Year award. In 2021, he was recognised on the Dimensions Learning Disability and Autism Leaders’ List.
