The Adobe-funded free 2-day workshop aims to break down barriers for entry and create new opportunities for diverse talent
While the advertising industry is in constant need of new, diverse talent, barriers for entry make it difficult for those from less traditional paths to hear about or secure new roles.
To help take down the barriers for people affected by homelessness to enter the creative sector, Accumulate, The Art School For The Homeless, has launched Creative Futures, a free 2-day workshop to help build networks and open access to opportunities.
The workshop will take place in Shoreditch on 20 July and 27 July and has been funded by Adobe. The event aims to equip participants with new skills and employment opportunities, as well as giving employers a widened reach to a diverse talent pool that will further enrich their organisation.
The first day of the event will see talks, career advice and workshops take place for those affected by homelessness. While the second aims to offer more practical connections into the industry by hosting creative industry employers, with the hope of offering meaningful work opportunities for participants such as job shadowing, work experience, mentorships or apprenticeships.
The event aims to increase diversity in the workplace and open up new pools of creative talent. Diverse talent with different perspectives that draw upon varied life experiences and backgrounds makes for new and innovative creative problem-solving skills.
